It all started when…
Diana was in fashion school surrounded by fellow students who wanted to be fashion designers. Diana quickly realized she had an advantage as a Wall Street trader with a finance and engineering background. This paired with her love for design gave her special insight into balancing creativity with practicality, or in other words, technical skills like math.
Diana witnessed her classmates struggling with the basics of fashion design and knew there had to be a better way to help them achieve their dreams. She wanted to show them that there's a connection between math and fashion, and how important it is to understand both. So, she got certified as a sewing instructor and started teaching at local schools, helping students understand how the skills they were learning in class applied to the real world.
Years later, Diana is still doing what she loves, helping new students see the connection between math and fashion. She is proud of how she can make a difference in their lives and help them achieve their design goals. And it all started with that one moment in class, when she realized her unique perspective could change things for the better.
An engineer, analyst, Wall Street trader. Have and always will be an artist, a creative, and wild thinker.
Hi, I'm Diana! I remember drawing my first fashion sketches in the 7th grade. I had no idea what I was doing, but drawing and creating felt good. I enjoyed expressing myself through my sketches. (Oh, how I wish I still had those sketches with me!) Even though fashion was my true interest, my upbringing encouraged me to focus on technical subjects, especially mathematics and sciences. And so I did.
I have a diverse background in engineering, finance, and fashion. I hold a technical business degree and have over 15 years of experience in the engineering and finance industries. It wasn't until I was deep into my Wall Street career that I rediscovered my love for fashion. While working full-time and pregnant with my first child, I attended night school at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where I honed my skills in fashion design.
My unique blend of analytical skills and creativity gives me a fresh perspective on the fashion industry. I'm always pushing the limits and coming up with new, innovative ideas for my classes. My goal is to help others reach their full potential and make a big impact as designers in any industry.
When my daughter was in elementary school, she showed interest in creating a three-dimensional version of one of her quick fashion sketches. This inspired me to teach her the necessary techniques to approach her design. Over time, I began offering informal classes at local schools that resulted in great demand. After moving to San Diego, I elevated these classes to a higher level, quickly leading to teaching after-school classes at Muirlands Middle School.
I want to use my technical background and creative eye to empower aspiring designers. I'm here to help, so let's work together to turn your student’s creativity into unforgettable fashion designs!
